Working as UX designer at Schibsted

At Schibsted Media we are a team of 40+ designers and researchers that work in a cooperative way and we are proud of being part of strengthening democracy in Scandinavia and we are all working on different aspects of a large publishing group. You will be a part of this extended and proficient team and in this team we share knowledge, meet at UX gatherings, run collaborative design critique sessions and meet up for social events.

In your daily work you will be part of a smaller cross-functional team that is responsible for the worktools for our newsrooms. In our product teams we committed to our principles:

The challenge

You will simplify, improve and design new features in the tools for our newsrooms that our colleagues use when working with our news media to produce independent journalism, reach a wide audience and strengthen democracy.

You will in most cases base your design decisions on insights like data and usability tests. Our users will be your focus but at the same time you should be able to be on top of efficiency and business values in the products.

You will be working in a team with designers, researchers, engineers and product managers and you will together deliver effective and usable products. You will be working with various tasks in the design process and with different products in our portfolio always with the goal to improve our products.

About You

  • You have more than 2+ years of work experience as a UX Designer

  • You have a bachelor or masters degree in design or similar

  • You are proficient in creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes and designs

  • You should be comfortable in doing different types of user research and usability testing and draw conclusions from the results

  • You have experience from designing products and services (bonus if you have experience from animations and motion graphics)

  • You have strong cooperative skills and are comfortable with communicating to stakeholders and other teams

  • You know how to present your own work and argue for your solutions

  • You should be dependable with managing your own workload

  • You are are dedicated designer that is passionate about keeping up to date about digital development and designing modern solutions

  • You are a good practitioner, both written and oral, of Swedish (Norwegian knowledge is a bonus)

What Will You Do

  • Collaborate with UX designers, UX researchers, Visual Designer, newsrooms, developers and project managers to identify user needs and experiences

  • Use research to map out the user needs and to create insight-driven software solutions

  • Create, design and validate interactive prototypes

  • Actively pull to deliver on the News Media strategy

  • Do user research guided by specialist from our UX Research team

  • You are a good practitioner, both written and oral, of Swedish or Norwegian
