You could say that McDonald's in the Nordics is one of the region’s largest family-run businesses. In the Nordics, McDonald's is owned by the British Hands family, but the individual restaurants in each of the four countries – Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden – are mostly owned and operated by our local franchisees with the support of the unique McDonald's franchise system. And when we say “mostly”, we really mean it: today we operate 425 McDonald’s restaurants within the region and 91 % of them are franchised. The remaining restaurants are operated by a company called Food Folk, which also takes care of running and developing the McDonald’s franchising practices in the Nordics.
