Launched in 2014 by Skype co-founders, Ahti Heinla and Janus Friis, Starship Technologies today operates in several cities across the world. The business headquarters are in San Francisco, while the main engineering office is in Estonia.
The company is committed to revolutionizing food and package deliveries with the fleet of Starship robots, advanced devices that can carry items up to 50kg within a 6km radius. Robots move with a pedestrian speed, navigate well and safely around objects thanks to its multiple cameras and sensors.
Parcels, groceries, and food are directly delivered from stores, at the time that the customer requests via a mobile app. Once ordered the robots’ entire journey and location can be monitored on a smartphone and the box can be opened only by the receiver. Service is very affordable, clean and energy-efficient.
In Spring 2019, Starship has celebrated their 50 000th delivery.
